take a peek...

I first noticed peylu on etsy through her whimsical animal art. An animal lover and keen observer of the  little critters, she has her own real life menagerie at home...

Among the many subjects in Pey's repetoire, I love her images of furniture, especially the chairs!

emeeme has loads of fun jewelry, the perfect accessory for any summer (and beyond) outfit!

Love antiques? 86forTheHome has done all the work, so you don't have to, and has a store filled with drool worthy oldies but goodies!

for your man

I was poking around in BartekDesign, a natty little shop on etsy featuring accessories designed and made by Bartek from his studio in Zeewolde, Netherlands.

Lots of spiffy bowties, with perfect bows!

And pocket handkerchiefs to match. Now wouldn't this be just the perfect thing for a wedding party...?

Not your father's fanny pack!

Bartek offers these cute terrier keychains in a variety of colors.

OK, these whimsical fish bookmarks are awesome! (And it looks like we have an Agatha Christie fan here...)

Pssst! Father's Day in the U.S. is just around the corner...

Spotlight on CynART

Painter, Cynthia Reid grew up just north of New York City, but has spent most of her life in Texas. Currently living about 40 miles north of Houston, on the edge of the piney woods, on 6 acres with her artist husband, 2 cats and 2 dogs. Her workspace is in the old 2-car garage, now converted, and which she describes as ”wonderful”!

It seems Cynthia has always been an artist, making art since she was a child, and upon graduation from college, became a high school art teacher. As an educator, she has acquired a wealth of knowledge in many art processes, but her personal favorite, and the one you will find predominating in her etsy shop, is watercolor.

It was in 1985 after a bout with breast cancer that caused the then young, single mom to reflect on her life and make the decision to pursue her passion more fully. She took a leave of absence from her job and headed back to school full time where she pursued an MFA in painting, concentrating in watercolor.  She got that degree and has been cancer free for the past 26 years!

As seems to be the case with many artists, Cynthia describes herself as a much better maker of art rather than a marketer of art. “In the past I did large outdoor shows and was in a few galleries.  These days I do only a few local shows per year, but for the past year I've been working on establishing an online presence.” Nowadays, she says, “My biggest challenge as an artist, and as a person, is time management!” Well, she’s got a lot going on!

You can visit Cynthia’s online etsy shop at CynArt.etsy.com

Her dogs blog! (extremely cute!)
And her tumblr page under construction with the help of fellow etsyian and practically neighbor, Paula of PaulaArt, subject of a recent Spotlight Interview!
